moving location of system db files

    Does anyone have any detailed steps for moving the location of the system db .mdf and .ldf files in SS 2005?  Is it different from the steps for 2000?

    I noticed that for the user db files, sp_attach_db is no longer valid, but I didn't find anything for the system db files.

    HI.  Read the SQL 2005 Books Online--the section about moving database files.  The procedure is similar to SQL 2000, but has been simplified.  There's one difference with SQL 2005 however, you cannot move or rename the Resource database.  This is a new database in SQL 2005 that stores all of the database objects.  You also shouldn't install the resource database on an encrypted or compressed NTFS partition.
