Moving DTS

  • How to Move DTS pacakages itself from server to another.

I have 300 DTS pacakages and I am moving my database to another server how should I do it?

    Nick

I HAVE 300 DTS shall I go and do each manually or I can do all 300 at a time??

  • Open the DTS Package, Save it as script file.

    copy it to destination server.

Go to DTS open package and then save on the server.

  • Thanks Also

Also I am having issue with replication how to do restore replication on another server, we are using transactional repl.

    Thanks

  • Generate the scripts for replication and run them on the next server.

  • A quick search on SQLServerCentral.com yielded the following article on transferring DTS packages -

    http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/awarren/copyingdtspackagestoadifferentserver.asp

There were also numerous threads in the forums that showed up in that search.

My search was simply the words "copy" and "dts" in the search box.  I figure ANYTHING would be better than manually copying 300 DTS packages between servers!!!!

  • The DTS Backup package works well,

There is a switch on one of the panels to retain formatting.

Don't forget to check it, even so a few will need to be laid out again. Although they work fine.
