Moving databases from one server to another. Server1 uses 2008 sql server and server 2 uses 2014 sql server

    What would be the best way to approach this?

    Start by doing a full workload performance test, or you'll likely be posting a similar thread to this afterwards: http://www.sqlservercentral.com/Forums/Topic1781716-3412-1.aspx

    Once you've got all the testing done and fixed the queries that showed performance degradations (and there will almost certainly be some), backup-restore will work fine.
