If I move a Windows 2003 server running SQL server 2005 from a workgroup to a domain what type of hornets nest is going to open up? I been trying to find out info on this, but Google isn't giving me good hits. I have a feeling this will create a ton of problems.

To be honest I don't think this causes any particular problems. I've done this in the past (including going from domain to workgroup) and nothing untoward happened - at least I don't have any recollection of anything happening.

Well its good to get reassured that nothing should happen. I know from past experience changing the server name can be problematic. Is there any MS KB articles on this?
Anyone?

Here is an article talking about renaming SQL Servers:

I don't know what type of security you have setup on your server, but remember that when you convert from workgroup to a domain, your user accounts don't switch over to domain accounts. To make use of Active Directory domain accounts you would need to re-create permissions as approperiate. Any references to Workgroup servers or names would need to be altered if your migrating your servers to a domain.
