More problems installing SQL 6.5

  • Off and on I'm still trying to install SQL 6.5 so that we can resurrect a legacy database and migtrate to SQL 2000. In this seemingly never-ending litany of problems... here's the lastest installment:

When I now attempt to install SQL 6.5 on a NT server I receive the following error message:

Even though it "says" non-critical... retrying yields the same error and basically I can't go any further.

    Does anyone have any suggestions???

    Thanks!

  • Hi,

The picture would not show, please post the message in words.

Also, I had to upgrade 6.5 database last year and we did have problems running 6.5 on Windows 2003. So we installed 6.5 on Windows 2000 without Windows service packs only for the upgrade purpose. 2-machine upgrade did not run for some reason, we did 1 machine upgrade and then moved the upgraded database to its new home on the production server with SQL 2000.

  • Try installing NT4 with SP3 before SQL 6.5, then apply SQL 6.5 sp2 or newer before doing anything else. These were the days that proved "never install a M$ product until a stable service pack is available".
