Modify the width of the side margins in a bar chart, SSRS 2005

  • Hello,

I've been tasked with reproducing some charts that are currently being produced in excel via a manual process. I've got the charts almost identical, but one issue I'm running into is with the side margins on the x-axis of the bar chart. Is there any way to customize the width of the side margin? I'd like the side margins to be the same as the spacing between the charts, right now it's too thick.

    Thanks,

    Parag

  • Hi Parag,

I checked RS2005 and unfortunately I don't find the ability to modify the width of the side margin. It seems the only option you have is to have a (fixed) side margin or not.

    Kind regards,

    Linda

  • Hello Parag,

I've been frustrated with this problem in the past myself. What I've discovered is that the default margin (top, bottom, right, left) widths are 1". I overcame this problem by altering the margins after selecting "Display Code" (right click on the report name in question and select "Display Code"). Once the XML is displayed, do a search on "Margin" which will bring you to the the spot in the XML where the margin widths are defined. Once there, simple change the margin value...for example, the default is 1.00 inches, change that to .5, or .25, for example, and shazam! That should take care of the problem!
