Hi,
First off, wasn't sure which forum to post this into as it's kind of about 2012 AND 2008.. Hopefully I'm in the right place 🙂
I'm busy trawling around trying to find an an answer to the below in a hurry (not found anything pertinent yet) and I've been asked by my superiors if this is possible:
3 Node Windows 2008 Server Cluster which would be home to -
* Node 1 - 2 x SQL Server 2008 Enterprise Instances
* Node 2 - 1 x SQL Server 2012 Standard instance
* Node 3 - Failover Spare
Can anyone confirm if this is possible or not.
Many thanks in advance for any replies.

It's certainly possible, only thing to watch out for is SSIS when running the two versions if you plan on installing it.
MCITP SQL 2005, MCSA SQL 2012

Thanks for the reply. Thats what I thought but needed confirmation.
I was asking the initial question because of licensing issues\constraints - we would only need to purchase one additional licence if we can mix the versions over the cluster. It may well be a moot point now as this cluster is proposed to host SCOM Databases which may need to be 'Broken Out' across the nodes.
According to this kb: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb309428.aspx - you can't do this across different versions of SQL Server - Certainly not impossible but not supported.
Cheers for taking the time to reply 🙂
