We installed Sybase client tools on SQL 2005. We can see the provider in the Provider folder in the SSMS.
However, when clicking the dropdown box for provider in the connection manager in the BIDS, we cannot see this provider.
We can use this provider in SSMS to retrieve data from Sybase without any issue. Why cannot we see this provider in the connection manager? How can we put it back in the list of the provider in the connection manager?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.

In Management Studio you are viewing the list of providers installed on the server. In BIDS, you are seeing the providers installed on the workstation that you are using to run BIDS. You will need to install the missing providers on the workstation(s) you are using to develop you SSIS packages.

We are running BIDS on the servers where OLE DB drivers were installed.

OK - I am now guessing...
Some software give you an option when you are installing it to make it available only to the user doing the installation or to all users. Did the installation of this product ask you something like that ?
