So I have a mirror set up as follows:
High saftey. High profile System.
Principal @ site 1, server 1.
Witness & mirror @ site 2, server 2.
Not ideal, not my set up.
If I need to reboot server 2, is pausing mirroring for all mirrored databases enough to ensure that the databases on server 1 remain principal & available?
Or will server still poll for the witness, find it unavailable when server 2 is rebooted & spazz out.
I would test, if I could.
Appreciate any responses.

in this setup, everytime there's a disconnection between the nodes the principal database will go offline, that's not an ideal scenario. Ideally the witness will sit on a 3rd site, if not it should go with the Principal

If you pause the mirror session the Principal should stay online, but will run exposed

Thanks for the response to another of my posts! I appreciate the confirmation of how it should work and the 2nd opinion.
The design is completely ill conceived but for boring, non technical reasons, cannot currently be changed.
