I am in the process of setting up Async db mirroring between principal and mirror (no witness server)
We're looking @ testing a forced failover to our mirrored server during the day, however I do not want the principal server to assume the position of the mirror and the mirror the principal.
I have not found any topics out here that answered this particular question but is there a forced way to put the mirror as the principal and leave the "production/principal" still readily available?
Going forward for a true dr test I want to force the principal to act as the mirror and the mirror to act as the principal, but for this internal test we don't want the production clients to experience any downtime.
any information would be greatly appreciated, thanks

You'll need to break the mirror session and restore the mirror database with recovery.
