Hi,
Has anyone tried mirroring between a 2008 server and a 2005 server?
Is is possible? Are there any issues with doing this?
Also, has anyone run into issues with upgrading from 2005 to 2008. Are there any particular things to look out for?

We dont have any prod 2k8 servers but i have run tests using my own instances and it works fine 2005 to 2008.

If you need to do 2k8 to 2k5 i would assume you would need to have db in s25 comp mode but should be ok. Just make sure that the db in quesion is not using any 2k8 only functions cause the sk5 server might not be able to replay these.

No, the database should be pretty standard (to my knowlegde the application db could be run on 2000!).
The reason for my question is that we will configure a new server for the db and I'd rather start off on 2008 if possible, rather than 2005 and then have upgrade. The 2008 will always be principle, in normal circumstances.
the plan will be to upgrade our 2005 servers, but of course this is likely to take time.
One other question springs to mind actually, when you upgrade from 2005 to 2008, does the migration automatically keep the database in 2005 compatability mode?

I have never actually performed an upgrade from 2k5 to 2k8 but i would imagine so. Any db's in 2k comp mode would also be left as they are. {assumption (as it would be ridiculous not to do this)}.

Sounds like it should be possible then, so I'll set up a test server and try it I think, just to make sure.
Ok thanks Adam,
