I have a 2-node cluster that I want to migrate to a 3-node cluster with more storage and memory. The current 2-node cluster will be retired.
Both clusters are running W2k8.
Moving the databases in the wee hours of morning is one option, but what I'd like to do is configre database mirroring between the clusters. I've created a new server with SQL2k8 Express to act as a witness. I've created the databases on the new cluster - they are in 'Restoring...' state.
I configure the mirror, but when I try to start mirroring, it fails. The message states 'TCP://DestinationSQLServer.domainname:5022 cannot be reached or does not exist. Check...' I know the destination & witness servers exist; I can connect to the databases on them from the Source server, and I can connect with 'telnet name 5022' from the source server.
I'm only looking at this as a hort term solution to migrating the databases. Can this be done? Has anyone done this before?
Thanks in advance

firstly verify your mirroring endpoints on each instance
