Hi Folks,
Can a mirror server have multiple principals for different databases on the mirror instance?
i.e on a mirror instance one database is mirrorred from a principal server, another database is mirrorred from another principal server (on the same mirror instance).

yes, principals and mirrors are database level, not server level.

thanks Steve
I just thought of something. Lets say the power supply died on your principal (or some other serious hardware fault that prevent the principal from booting. Is there any way you can failover on the mirror.
I believe FORCE_SERVICE_ALLOW_DATA_LOSS on the mirror would be the answer is that correct?

If you have configured your database mirror as High Availability (with witness). It will automatically failover to the mirror

yep .. I know - I don't have the resources to use a witness. thanks anyway 🙂
just another question. If you are using multiple principals pointing to the same mirror instance do you setup separate endpoints on the mirror for the different principal or can they use the same endpoint and port?

You don't need separate endpoints.
For the witness, it can be anything, including a desktop running Express. No reason not to run one somewhere.

Agree with Steve, there is almost no reason not to have a witness. You can use the express version, so cost is not an issue. There should be some machine where you can install a copy of express.
The more you are prepared, the less you need it.
