Minimum Memory Requirements for SQL Server 2000

  • Hi,

New to the boards [and in some respects, to SQL Server]

Looking to squeeze in 70-228 before i move onto SQL 2005 but am wondering about the following

What are the actual minimum memory requirements for SQL Server 2000?

    For example:

    http://www.microsoft.com - Enterprise on Windows 2000 is 64MB, with 128MB recommended

MS SQL Server2000 System Administration [MS Press] - Enterprise on Windows 2000 is 256MB [128MB Supported]

MS SQL Server2000 Admin Pocket Consultant [MS Press] - Enterprise on Windows 2000 is 512MB

    Confused

BTW, I appreciate that the more memory, the better - i am just concerned with what Microsoft will expect me to put if it appears on the exam

    My thanks in advance

[and no pre-historic OS / SQL Version jokes!!]

  • see http://www.microsoft.com/sql/prodinfo/previousversions/system-requirements.mspx

it depends on OS & edition

from 32mb of memory to 128

  • Aye,

Many thanks for that Jo - I assume that for the exam we have to preach what Microsoft has stated to be the 'bare' minimum it seems to install the product, rather than what is required for reasonable performance.

My thanks for your time in letting me know.

    Lee
