Hi folks, i'm sorry if my questions are stupid.
Can any one explain me clearly what is the difference between updating a database? Migration of a database? does it sounds both are same? Please help me. I'm confused.
thanks in advance.

The updating doesn't make sense. You'd have to ask whoever said that what they mean.
A migration is usually to another instance. It could involve and update to a new version, or it could be the same version.

Am I correct that you are speaking about release/version management? If yes, maybe you mean "upgrade" instead of "update".
Both word have the same meaning.
Just two examples from BOL:
Look for "Migration Wizard F1 Help (Analysis Services)". This topic shows how to "migrate" from SSAS2k to SSAS2k5.
Look for "Using Upgrade Advisor to Prepare for Upgrades". This topic shows how to "upgrade" to SSE2k5.
Sometimes you "upgrade" to a new minor or change version and "migrate" to a new major version. Sometimes both meanings are swapped.
If you didn't speak about release/version management... Forget everything I wrote. :hehe:
