I need insight. What is the best way to migrate from SQL 2000 Developer edition to Standard edition. I recently discovered, while preparing to install SQL Reporting Services that we are currently running a small production application on the developer edition. Looks like my predecessor bought the standard license but never installed it.
The official documentation indicates developer can be upgraded to enterprise which doesn't work for us from a licensing standpoint. Is the documentation accurate. We don't use and of the 'enterprise' features.
Or, would it be better to export data and metadata, uninstall developer edition and clean install standard edition.
Thanks for any insight. REH

I think thats the only way you can do it.
Developer edition is functionally equivelent to Enterprise edition.
while Standard edition has some functionality disabled, such as replication, and log shipping.
The install will probably not let you upgrade to standard edition, you can try it but I'm sure it will fail.
