Hi All
I’m in the middle of migrating a 2000 SQL server to 2005 and have just got to the part where I need to migrate reporting services.
I’m doing a side by side migration so I can still have the old SQL 2000 server intact.
I’ve had a look on these forums and on other forums as to how to achieve a reporting services migration but I haven’t found any real clear procedure to follow.
I have copied the report files from the old server to the new server and recompiled all the reports in Business Intelligence Development Studio.
The problem I have is that I have quite a number of subscriptions that I need to migrate. Is there a way of migrating these over?
I understand that all the subscriptions are stored in the “subscriptions” table, so is it just a matter of backing up the “ReportServer” and “ReportServerTempDB” databases and restoring them on the new server?
Could I just extract the data out of the old subscriptions tables and import the data into the tables on the new database?
Will I have an issue with the encryption key associated with reporting services? Will I also have problems with owners of the old reports?
If anyone could offer any advice on these questions or point me to some good articles on the web I would be most grateful.
Many thanks.
Nick.
