My environment uses databases on server X that have publications, the distributor database is on Server Y and the databases with subscriptions are on server Z. I need to migrate Server X to Server W. Do I need to uninstall the publications and reconfigure them after I migrate?
Maybe you could point me to some material or a former post that covered this scenario. Thanks in advance.

Absolutely! You will have to reconfigure replication.
Look at the Replicated databases section in :
SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Technical Reference Guide
