  Hi,

  At the end of Microsoft SQL Server 2012 - 11.0.5343 hot fix apply, got the below error but the hotfix apply went successful.

  SQL Server Setup has encountered the following error:

  The NT service 'MSSQLSERVER' could not be started.

  Error code 0x84B20001.

  Has anyone else encountered the same issue or this is a known issue?

  Check the bootstrap logs, I believe during installation more detailed logs are written there.

  Have you looked at the Windows event viewer? Usually if there is an error like this there will be something there which may provide more info as to why the service didn't start, such as if there were a permissions issue somewhere.
