When I try to run the Upgrade Advisor, I get the message that "Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Upgrade Advisor requires the .NET Framework version 2.0.".
On the two machines I am testing, the .NET Framework version 2.0 is installed. It is the beta version of 2.0 but it is installed.
Has anybody else run accross this issue? How do I move forward to get this to work?
Thanks,
Daniel

If you are trying to install the RTM of Microsoft SQL Server 2005, you must first uninstall the beta version of the .NET Framework 2.0.

I installed SQL Server 2005 Developer Edition.

RTM = Release to Manufacturing. It's out of the Beta/CTP cycle. The Upgrade Advisor probably requires the production release of the .NET Framework 2.0. If you still have the beta, uninstall it and install the public release.

Yes, thank you. That was the problem.

Where can I download the public release of the .NETFramework 2.0?

You can get the latest version here:
.NET Framework Developer Center: SDKs, Redistributables & Service Packs

I have the same problem with the Upgrade Advisor on a Windows 2000\ sql 2000 server. I have uninstalled the .NET 2.0 Framework, reinstalled it (downloaded from Microsoft's site today), but get the same error message about needing NET 2.0!
