We are looking at using Mocrosoft Shadow Copy with Hitachi Quick Shadow to backup and restore SQL Server Databases. Does anyone have any experience with it they like to share?
I believe backing up and restoring a database should be simple. But can I apply transaction log backups to a specific time? How do I get the database into Load Pending so I can apply them?
Are shadow copy backups recorded by SQL Server?

Hi David,
I don't know anything about Shadow Copy, but I would recommend you use a native SQL Server backup or something that is supported like SQL LiteSpeed.
I've had people try to Ghost SQL Server databases with dire consequences and also SAN snapshots don't seem to be that flash in my experience.
I would assume that if you do a backup with Shawdow Copy you would not be able to apply transaction log backups as SQL Server would not be able to match both backup sets.
Just my thoughts...
