microsoft certification dba

  • hey

I want to become sql dba certified

    whats the best route?

    thanks

  • While you'll likely receive varying opinions on this subject, my advice is to start reading and configure a test instance to apply what you're reading. Microsoft makes the AdventureWorks databases available for you to use during testing too.

I would strongly advise against going straight to a bootcamp; instead, rely on your knowledge to obtain the certification.

how long have you got to take the exams once you have bought them do you know?

do you know if there are any practice exams anywhere?

  • If you mean when you register, how long do have? No idea. I've rescheduled exams and pushed them out 6 weeks or so, and I imagine that you could continue to do that for a long time. You shouldn't register until you feel fairly confident, but you can go to Prometric and check on that.

The exam time is usually around 3 hours.

There are various places that sell practice exams, like Transcender. I know it's hard, but I wouldn't worry about them too much. The exams are fairly straightforward and easy to answer if you know the various topics. They aren't what I'd call too tricky or super hard. There are good samples in the backs of various books written on the exams.

  • I don't usually register for an exam until I'm happy that I'm ready for it. Usually just a couple weeks in advance. Least I ever did was register on the Wednesday afternoon for an exam on the Thursday morning. I wouldn't recommend doing that though...

do they have practice questions in?

do think think i should do the exampls in order? 461, 462, 463 or doesnt that matter?

i ask because its the DBA stuff im most short on knowledge and experience so i think if i passed that first it would be the biggest step for me

    cheers

  • Any order you like.
