Merge Replication Problem

  • Hi All!

I have set up a merge replication over internet in a scenario where Server A has a fixed IP and is online. Server B gets the dynamic IP through dial-up internet connection. A is the publisher and distributor. Server B had a anonymous pull subscription and user FTP to transfer snapshot.

The Problem is that the changes from publisher are updated at subscriber but the subscriber's changes are not updated in publisher (Even the replication shows succesfull status).

I reinitilaized the subscription and selected the option of upload changes at the subscriber before reinitializing, and re-run the replication.

The replicaiton was completed successfully with same results but it gave me an error (in an intermediate step) which was something like

"Can not enumarate subscription changes at distributor" i cant remember exact statement.

I checked the merge agent error details and it showed an error which was something

"General network error.. Distributor can not access publisher" this was strange because the distibutor and publisher are on the same machine.

    Can someone help?

  • Haven't run into that, though I don't use merge that often. Do you have other subscribers to the same pub and are they working ok? How about turning on the verbose logging so you can see more detail?
