Merge Replication

    I am working with merge replication. The setup is that there is currently a Cluster Server (A/P) that has the Publisher and Distributor on it and the Subscribers are 80 (SQL CE-handheld devices)  and more will be added-up to 2000 devices. Has anyone had the experience on the time it takes to synchronize that number of devices. Thanx!

    Not a real easy one.

    It all depends e.g. on:

    • The number of changes (inserts / updates / deletes)
    • How often the subscribers synchronize
    • The type of data (ntext/text/etc)

    So if you modify only 1 row for the whole day, which consists of an int column being changed, the time is negligible, but change 1 million rows all containing large blobs it might take a while

    Thanx for the information. I am currently following the suggestion of datatype changing. This is going to take me a while as I have MANY tables! Where's a developer when you need one???
