  I am trying to understand - How SQL Server 2005-64 bit handle memory? Say if i allocated 20 GB to SQL Server - will it grab 20 GB at instance startup or grab on demand as it required? Also how can i check if SQL is under memory pressure?

  Can some body please explain on this?

  I believe SQL Server will take a minimum amount and grow as needed.
