task manager showing sql server taking 9.88gb out of 10 gb memory? afraid of this. what are the steps and checks to be done?

you should set the max memory to a figure you're happy with. The actual value would depend upon the o/s and the box but on an average server I generally set sql memory somewhere between 4 and 8 GB less than physical memory.
