MDX and stacked bars SSRS 2008 R2

  • Dear All

I am facing a little trouble implementing a report using SSRS, I am trying to represent a product group portfolio evolution from previous year through budget and actual, I managed to do this using my best prototyper Excel and looks as attachment group_portfolio_ideal.png.

But I cannot get the same results using SSRS, what I got is this group_portfolio_ssrs.png

I guess that I should change my MDX query, so here is when I ask your advice. What could be the best way to have my data properly arranged to use with SSRS?

  • No need to change your query. Change what is located on each axis/group instead. That should do the trick.

  • One thing I missed to tell is that Columns are measures (CurrentYearActual, CurrentYearBud and PreviousYearActual) are measures of the cube, I designed this on purpose to reduce MDX complexity at presenting data.

So as long as I get SSRS allows only measures to be placed on columns and hierarchies must be placed on rows, what I was trying to do (without success) is turn each measure into a member of a calculated hierarchy (is this possible??) or calculated members of another hierarchy so I can use the "Category" and "Series" regions of the SSRS chart to display my data, but I am afraid to say that I am not so skilled in MDX... could you give a hand?
