I don't usually look at the title and category for QOTD, but today it really
gave away the answer!

Nope! It existed since SQL 2008 (R2?). Everybody just ignored it 😀

I have my beta exam of developing sql 2012 data warehouses this week, and MDS is on the skills list. So I'm being forced to look at it (my only weak point in the list).
