MDF/LDF Timestamps

    At a file system level, what causes the Last Accessed or Last Written date to change on the mdf and ldf files?

    I've made changes to my database but the files don't get updated with the new timestamps.

    Any thoughts........

    Ah - that would explain it!

    I'm trying to find when a database was last accessed and thought I could do it through that but obviously not. I've seen a few messages on this subject with no real satisfactory answers.

    I've just joined a new company and would like to weed out the old, unused databases. Going forward I can setup some traces in Profiler but i was hoping there was some sort of "Database last accessed" field somewhere.
