MDAC error

    Hi there,

    I'm receiving the following error when trying to install SQL2000 client tools on my workstation:

    Install of Microsoft Data Access Package failed -1

    Anyone encountered this before? I know that MDAC is automatically installed with Win2K, and I've confirmed that msdadc.dll and oledb32.dll are on my system.

    The version of MDAC with SQL Server 2000 is 2.6. The version that shipped with Windows 2000 is 2.5. So it's failing on the update. What you might try is downloading the MDAC from http://www.microsoft.com/data/ and installing it before installing the client tools. That might make a difference.
