Hey there, I am looking to upgrade my MCITP cert to the MCSA in Database Development. I've been doing DB development since SQL 6.0 - so, I was wondering if anybody had any insight to the level of difficulty in the new tests. When I did my MCITP, I needed a boot camp to take pass the tests even though I had been a DBA for many years... I am wondering if I just purchase the practice tests from Microsoft if that would be sufficient or if I need to do a bootcamp again. I know its all up to how good my skills are but just curious how everyone has felt about the difficulty of the tests... When I did my MCITP I had a hard time with some of the questions cause they weren't real world type of questions.
And also, I'm a little confused on the new titles...MCSA is just an associate right? If I wanted the "better" cert, is there one after MCSA Database Developer that is a step up?

Hey Roxanne,
The MCSA is a great start. It's 2 exams. I have been working a ton with SQL Server since SQL Server 2005. I recommend Microsoft's prep books and a practice exam for each exam. If you don't pass, dig in some more and then come back to take it again (without letting too much time go by).
The next step up is the MCSE. For me, since I already had an MCSA, I received an MCSE after passing the first exam toward the 2016 MCSA.
