Jeff -
Did you somehow hack the site to get to be SSC-Insane,
Only this morning I checked the leader board and you were definitely SSC-Champion.

A free site may be hard to come by..unless someone steps up to be a sponsor. A free blog might be easy, limited in usage but easy.
If somebody sponsored a site or a blog - it would work out rather well. We would need to be able to setup a multi-admin type of blog (I would have to learn how to do that - hopefully somebody else has experience). It would be pretty easy from there - public and private areas based on login.

I also suggest we keep the 'journeyman' and replace 'Microsoft Certified' with something else...like a 'SQL Server Journeyman' perhaps..one of the comments i got on the survey was that how can you call it MS certified if MS is not going to administer it, perhaps they will let PASS use that but we don't know for sure and don't want to create any wrong impressions.Ummm.... I wonder if RedGate would be a willing sponsor on something like this.
My dance card is pretty full but I could engage in conference calls (maybe even phone interviews but probably not during the day{which is going to be the problem for everyone}) and I can definitely write a practical style test at various levels for T-SQL/Application DBA track and some of the related System DBA things. I'm pretty good at the test thing.... certified Navy Instructor in electronics, digital logic, and microprocessors and I wrote a 200 hour (not a misprint... 200 hours) course on those subjects for the Navy including all of the testing both multiple-guess and practical (ie, hands on).
Before all of that, though, we need a list of required skills by track.
And this is where a collaboration site would be really beneficial to hashing these things out.
I can't even do a search on web hosting from work due to the Internet Police.

Did we decide if the MCITP was a prerequisite for this cert or are we developing something between MCITP and MCM that doesn't require the MCITP?
I'm asking, because there may be people out there that will think the MCITP is just a waste of money just to be eligible to earn the SSCJ.

No, Steve has added a couple of new levels, but they apparently don't show up on the Leader Board as of yet, just on the forum threads.

Leader board doesn't show the new categories yet.

Initially we had said that. However, if this is not an MS cert - what point would it prove? I think it could be a viable alternative and will be of higher value than the MCITP.
I just thought of another discussion topic - Marketing. There needs to be some industry recognition of this new certification.

A blog is a no brainer...(google blogs 🙂 Unless we are looking for something terribly sophisticated. A site which would have better features has to come via a sponsor. We can ask some folks for help. But again instead of rambling on about what we intend to do and so on a crisp concise mission statement will help. I will try asking couple of people today.

In addition to the "website" I think we need to exchange emails. Some things should be taken offline or may not involve the entire group but could be useful to the project in total.

Yes, true, a mission statement will help, but we are multi-tasking here at the moment, so thoughts that flow need to be put down in writing before I forget what I was thinking. Got to remember, the doctor said I was getting old. 😉
Now, where was I?? 😛

I'll put this out there right now - I have no problem sponsoring a site if need be. Sometimes having those additional features is necessary. Also, needing several people to be able to login to a secure place is nice. We would also be able to use a domain name that does not trigger internet police aka websense.

Well, you got the blog going, so I just thought you'd be the right person for the job. Plus, mature is just another word for old.:-P
Honestly, I think the team should make that decision once we all get together online or on the phone or however we do it (Live Meeting?). I just thought it easier to have you be the focus for now since you have taken the lead on this for now. And i must say that you are doing an awesome job!

We could have a rotational lead depending on the current focus of the group. Just another thought.
