Master key

    Hi friends,

    I get this error for encryption,

    Msg 15581, Level 16, State 3, Procedure val_enc, Line 22

    Please create a master key in the database or open the master key in the session before performing this operation.

    So I created the master key in the databsae and opened a new session and executed the procedure I got the same error. Every time I open a new session, I need to create master key or open the master key to execute the procedure..

    Is there a work around for this to execute the procedure without opening the master key in every session?

    Did you happen to restore an encrypted database from a different server to this server? If so, you need to open the master key using its password and re-encrypt it using the service master key.
