Couldn't find a specific sub-forum.
I was reading that when applying 2008 R2 SP1 you need to run the MDS update component manually: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/mds_team/archive/2011/08/16/how-to-install-master-data-services-mds-service-pack-1-for-sql-server-2008-r2.aspx
I was curious if that package changed in later service packs because I couldn't find any mention of it.
I also wanted to know in regards to SQL 2012, if there was a similar process in their service packs for MDS, or if it hasn't been upgraded? Thanks.

Not sure about 2008R2 (never used MDS in that version) but in SQL 2012 MDS updates are included in the regular service packs or CUs.
