For some time i have been trying to find a way to develop a procedure or append a sql query to our application code so that the password when stored in the database is masked. As of now i am not sure if this is easier to with the developement language or will it be easier to perform it in a sql with a procedure.
please let me know if anyone has tried this before

It covers more than just masking but it is a pretty good read.
