Perhaps a trivial point, but I frequently switch between a live and a local server which have identical database names and structures - the only way to tell the difference is to look at the top of the 'tree' structure in the object explorer window, or to see the server name / ip in the tab on the query you are working on.
I've had a look around in the options and I can't see anything obvious - would there be a way to say anything on xxxxx connection is colored red and anything on yyy connection is colored blue.
Even if it was just the tab of the query it would be a bonus...
(Like the colored tabs option you have in Excel 2007 for example)
I know it sounds lame and probably not an option which exists, but its very easy to run a query and get results and not realize you are on the local server which may have data which is around a week out of date or something - the results will look subtly different

There is not an option in SSMS, but earlier this week I saw a tool on a blog that enabled what you are looking for. Unfortunately I did not subscribe to the blog because it was there to sell tools and I was not interested. I am currently looking for it again. If I find it I will post the link here.

Check out: http://www.apexsql.com/sql_tools_edit.asp
It might already have the kind of feature you're looking for. If not, the owner of ApexSQL is pretty easygoing when it comes to taking requests for new features. (Sorry RedGate, hate linking to a competitor on your page, but couldn't find a product of yours that parallels this one. Maybe someone else knows what it would be and can post it here.)

Thanks for the reply GSquared, I may give it a trial at some point, however, I doubt those with the purse strings will go for it!
