I have sql server 2005 standard and sql server 2008 express installed. I also have management studio installed for 2008. I need management studio installed for 2005. Will management studio 2005 express work for sql server 2005 standard? http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=8961 :ermm:

You can't have them both installed. 🙁

I don't see a reason why you should have SSMS 2005 installed when you already have SSMS 2008.
What are you trying to do?

Of course you can, I have them both and I even have a 2008 R2 version on my system.
Do you need them all? Not necessarily, but there a a few things which for me work just a little nicer in on version versus the other.
A good example would be the Activity Monitor which I like much better in SSMS 2005.

I have the standard version for sql 2005 which includes the BI suite. I only have the express version for 2008. The trial period is over so I don't have the BI suite for 2008. That's why I occasionally use 2005. What is the link for management studio for 2005?
