Maintenance Plan option missing in Instance of SQL 2005

    Hello,

    I manage an client site with one server running SQL Server 2005. A third party added a new database, but into a new instance of SQL. Although the default instance has the Maintenance Plan option, the new instance does not.

    Why would this be, and how can I get it to appear?

    what edition of sql is the new instance? I think that Express doesnt ship with maint plans, and possibly workgroup edition too (2008 Workgroup definately doesnt)

    I have checked.... and the default instance is Workgroup and the maintenace plan option is availabale. The instance is Express and no maintenance plan option. So that is the answer.
