I'm moving a 2000 db on server1 to a SQL2005 db on server2. I want to migrate my maintenace plans from server1 to server2. Is there a maintenance plan migration tool? Can someone point me to it?
Thanks

Hi Rocky,
Is server1 running SQL 2000 or SQL 2005? If both servers are running SQL 2005 then you can easily copy maintenance plans between servers/instances using SSIS. If server1 is running SQL 2000 then i'm pretty sure you cannot 'migrate' plans between different SQL versions.
Also ensure your SQL 2005 server is fully patched to avoid earlier maintenance plan issues, explained elsewhere on this site.

Mark

server1 is 2000, server2 is s2005. that's what i was looking for... to migrate between versions.

I did find this article:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb153838.aspx
However, when I right click the 2000 maint plan as it says to do, 'Migrate' isn't an option and I am sysadmin.
Any comments appreciated. Thanks

I'll try it tomorrow when i'm back at work and let you know. I wish this tech. doc. was available when I needed to migrate our plans!
What build of SQL 2005 are you on?

9.00.3042.00

Bear in mind that with your current build you could experience problems with cleanup tasks...
see http://www.sqlservercentral.com/columnists/sjones/2960.asp for build details.
and http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933508/
All depends upon when you downloaded and installed SP2. I wonder if you need to go to a later build.
We're on build 9.00.3054 for all servers and have no maintenance plan issues.
I'll come back to you tomorrow.
Cheers.

Sorry Rocky but I have not had a chance to test this... unexpected work load etc, perhaps someone else here has some knowledge of this?
I would be interested to know how you get on.
