I've figured out how to export my maintenance plans, and move them to a new server where I've been able to import them. Now I'm having problems. First, of all they are almost all needing edits. All of the jobs have lost their database connections for example, so I have to recreate those. Perhaps this is my fault because I changed all of the sa passwords? Also, the jobs have all lost info about what they should do at the database level. For example, they are all showing up asking me to select databases, but they were originally set up to backup either all databases or all user databases. The big kicker there is that when I choose to edit a task, SSMS locks up for a minute or two before the dialog appears.
Still I guess this is still better than having to mess around with the wizard, and trying to remember what tasks each job has, but I'm wondering if I have done something wrong. It would be nice if this process were more hands free, and I'm concerned about the long open time.
