Hi,
When you go to job history, you can find the 3 steps under the job....
i think u have seen top step in those 3 steps...
if you click on middle step.. you can get the detailed error..
try it.. hope u got the point.

right click the maintenance plan and see "View History"

What does the task/plan/step that is failing do? ie if it is a backup task is it going to a valid location. Did it work before? Is it a SQL maint plan or is it scripted tasks?

Add an output file to the job step. That file will have more details about the job run status

What does the job do?
What's the code of the first step??
Go to the job, right click, properties,steps, edit and then you can see the code...
write here what is the code..
