Hello
question related to the maint plan for full backup in 08r2.
Basically in sql 2000 when I created a maint plan for a full backup, I was able to opt for 'delete (backup) files older than x days/weeks'
I just looked at all properties/settings in my new maint plan and the agent job props etc
can't find where to specify the same.
Can someone tell me where it's done?
we have been keeping 5 days and would like to continue doing same
thanks

Its a separate task from the pane on the left. 'Maintenance cleanup task'
drag this over, set up to delete bak files, and put a dependency on the backup task.

thanks very much.
I've never dealt with dependencies before.
What should the old .bak/log deletion depend on?

you will have two tasks in your maintenance plan window. Connect them together with a 'on success' flow arrow. i.e. just drag the arrow emanating from the backup task to connect to the cleanup task.
In the cleanup task for file type to delete make sure you specify bak and not .bak
