Mail set up issues

    Hi all,

    I have SQL 2008 SP1 (64 bit ) on Windows 2008 R2. I am trying to run Database mail. I put in all informatino correct but gettinog bellow error:

    Message

    The mail could not be sent to the recipients because of the mail server failure. (Sending Mail using Account 1 (2011-11-03T12:53:02). Exception Message: Cannot send mails to mail server. (The SMTP server requires a secure connection or the client was not authenticated. The server response was: 5.7.1 Client was not authenticated).

    what is wrong?

    Sounds like your mail server is configured to require secure authentication.

    Can you script out your database mail profile and verify your settings with the Exchange admin?

    Hi,

    If i check the SSL connection option then also fails. Also, Admin have set the anonymous enabled for sending mail.

    Have you confirmed that you are using the correct mail server address?

    Hi,

    yes. I confirmed with sysadmin, however i have setup same profile on SQL 2005 server and it works fine. I am trying to configure on SQL 2008.
