  I have an issue where I am trying to setup mail on a named instance for 2000. If you go to support services/sqlmail, nothing shows up in the dropdown for properties. if you right click the sql agent and go to properties, the profile shows up in the dropdown. Mail works in the agent, but I can't get it to work for the sqlserver service. They both run under the same network credentials. Any ideas?

  Make sure you have outlook is default email in your internet properties.

  Restart the SQL service... still you can't see the outlook profile...Open the outlook on the server and see you can send the test email.
