looking to get first sql job

  • Do your companies pay you overtime?

  • If the overtime happens on a consistent basis, yes.

But usually when I do some overtime I work a bit less long the day/week after.

  • the last three jobs have been a combination of time back or overtime. time back is good as you can stack up large amounts of time which give you extra holidays during the year, but then so is the extra money from time to time so if I need extra money that month I would cash in some of my extra hours.

  • Sounds like a fair deal. I'm leaving law enforcement for tech/SQL development/future Dba and my overtime is paid for anything over 8 hours in a given day. I'm used to long and sometimes crazy hours but looking forward to a career where long hours help me progress instead of just tiring me out.

    Thanks for the information.
