Looking for help taking the RBAR from this problem

  • I am glad you are making progress 😀

I would suggest you keep an eye on this because, from past experience, whenever Jeff goes quiet for a day or two there is a chance he has some outstanding news to impart and he is testing it thoroughly before delivering the blow!

Of course, he may just be busy 😎

Either way, thanks for the feedback so far.

  • Hi clubbavich

good luck....I will also be watching this thread for any further posts 🙂

whilst I might not have been able to directly help you..... I have expanded my (very limited) knowledge on execution plans, how SQL optimiser creates different plans ...and just a little on indexed views.

Hopefully there will be some further feedback that I can learn from....I find that quite regularly the threads extend way beyond answering the OP question and can provide detailed insight into various aspects of SQL for those who are prepared to participate...and this is why I really appreciate this forum and its users.

    kind regards

Thank you for the vote of confidence but I don't have 2k8 R2 to actually test on. I have 2k8 but not R2.

    --Jeff Moden

RBAR is pronounced "ree-bar" and is a "Modenism" for Row-By-Agonizing-Row.
First step towards the paradigm shift of writing Set Based code:
________Stop thinking about what you want to do to a ROW... think, instead, of what you want to do to a COLUMN.

Change is inevitable... Change for the better is not.
