Searching for a Senior level SQL DBA. This is a F/T or contract-to-hire position. SQL DBAs in this role will be responsible for daily administration tasks and for designing and creating SQL objects MS-SQL databases, working closely with Business Analysts, DBA and QA staff. The development methodology is iterative, the timeline is very aggressive, and the project is strongly supported and fully funded by the business.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
•10+ years of experience in Database Administration including Installing, configuring, managing and monitoring SQLServer databases
•10+ years of experience in Microsoft SQL Server (5 + years in 2005 and 2+ years in 2008, 2008 R2) developing complex transact queries including stored procedures, functions, triggers and views
•7+ years of experience in SSIS developing complex ETL processes
•5+ years of experience in SSRS
•Strong knowledge of backups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Replication and Security
•Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, connectivity and security issues
•Expertise in Database logical and physical modeling including normalization, identifying/non-identifying relations, data types and referential integrity
•Experience in improving data integration process through performance tuning techniques
•Ability to work quickly in a small-team iterative development environment
•Clear verbal and written communication
•Demonstrated ability to write clear specifications for complex processes
•Effective interpersonal skills collaborating with business partners and technical team members
•Experience participating in code review and acceptance process to improve code quality
•Responsive to the input and direction of team members
•Exhibit results oriented and structured work habits
•Present an ethical, enthusiastic, tactful, resourceful, and professional profile
IDEAL:
•Experience in using Database modeling tools (Visio)
•Working knowledge of Visual Studio 2010 (creating and working with EDMX is a plus)
•Working knowledge of TFS is a plus
•Strong analytical and problem solving skills utilizing diagnostic skills related to database management and data analysis
•Experience in code review and acceptance process in order to improve code quality and delivery
•Strong documentation skills to facilitate support of ongoing operational responsibilities
•Strong emphasis on unit testing and delivering defect-free code to QA
•Skill in building clean, reusable SQL code
You do not need to have everything to be pefect, especially when we get down to desired skills. If you don't have quite 10 years, that's ok! I would be willing to consider a strong 5-7 years. Just e-mail me/message me/call me if you have any additional questions!

San Francisco, CA and this position cannot be done remotely, unfortunately. I like working from home, as well, but this needs to be done onsite 🙂

I took the time to read the requirements. I don't see anything listed that would require someone to be on-site. I am currently working in Afghanistan, supporting nearly 20 SQL Server production systems dispersed over a wide geographical area. Working with development teams located in geographically dispersed locations in the United States (FL,VA,NY,CO,PA). There are are only two reasons that really come to play when you here that work must be done on-site: Management distrusts it employees to work effectively remotely, or you are working on Classified Government systems.
With the advances in technologies today, companies are rejecting highly skilled individuals that would be more than able to do the work required but aren't willing to relocate to certain areas of the country for various reasons.
Other than the SSRS requirement, I have the skills and experience needed for this position. I just have no desire to live in San Francisco, CA.

I will send you my resume, but I know I am not perfect, as I said I don't meet the requirements for SSRS. Also, I am pretty sure they don't want to wait until February to bring someone on board locally or remotely.
I do feel that I can accomplish the tasks and duties as you presented them whether I was sitting in their office or working remotely from my home in Colorado Springs.
San Francisco may be an amazing place, but it lacks the really important aspects I am looking for at the moment: family. My oldest daughter and her family are currently in Colorado Springs, my youngest daughter is still high school (sophomore at the moment), my ex-wife with whom I am attempt to reconcile with at this time as well.
I am, unfortunately, going to be unemployed when I redeploy back to the States in early February. My position back in Colorado Springs with my current employer was eliminated during a reduction in force (right-sizing they called it). If I can find a position at home (working remotely or a company in Colorado Springs) that is the ideal solution. If not I will start to expand my search radius to Denver then neighboring states (I would still like to be able to come home for extended weekends and such when possible).

I guess it depends on how long it takes to complete the hiring process. I've seen companies where it has taken several months from interview to hire. I have also been offered a position half way through an interview. You never know how they are going to go.
For me, I'm just trying to get a jump start on the search process.

Where internationally?? I would probably be open to a one year contract working overseas.
