We use scheduling software to submit jobs to SQL Server. We have had no problems until two days ago. The user database backup job for one of our servers is failing with the following message:
Sqlcmd: Error: Microsoft SQL Native Client : Unable to complete login process due to delay in opening server connection.
I cannot find any reason for this to have started happening just now. Any help\suggestions would be appreciated.

Question 1: What's changed?
Things (usually) don't just stop working by themselves.
Question 2: Can you create a connection from the scheduling server to the SQL Server manually? Try creating a test DSN using the ODBC tool in Windows.
