Hi,
Recently , i faced similar issue.
If i have understood your problem clearly...u might have faced error message "login failed for so and so credentials"
The solution that i could tell you is...login to ssms as admin and under login tab add user details who is facing problem while login.
then exit ssms and login with user credentials.
This should work.

You may also want to start a sqlprofiler trace on your sqlinstance capturing all login info an all oledb errors to get more detail on what's going wrong.
( keep it short to not disrupt ongoing operations to much on your server )
