Logical reads has reduced but not execution time's?

  • i was able to bring down logical reads to half by creating a covering index, however the query took the same time to complete as it did before? What does this mean?

  • One of the reasons could be that bottleneck is not in I/O.

  • Would need to see the execution plan to help you on that one. You might try also checking waits on the spid while it runs to see if you can catch something odd.
